Light and Shadow

You're here for one reason.

Your child or teen with autism, ADHD, learning differences, or mental health needs or dual diagnoses is struggling in school and at home. This means you and your family are struggling too.

Their needs are complex. They ebb and flow often between chronic and crisis issues on an ongoing basis, impacting life for each of you.

Executive function issues. Social or behavioral challenges. School refusal. Placement concerns. Transition planning.

Feeling overwhelmed, confused, and often unsure what to do defines exceptional parenting, yet you don't need to walk this path alone. There is another way.

With me, you'll have broad and deep special education and advocacy expertise. You'll have information, direction, answers, and support. Your time and efforts will be less reactive and more proactive, addressing your child's issues and needs as they continue or develop.

You'll spend less time struggling and more time understanding what you need to know, how to navigate the process, and what progress looks like for you and your child.

WHO

This 3-month coaching, advocacy, and parent support program is for parents of neurodiverse children and teens from preschool to college with a primary focus on school and special education to help your child succeed.

Your concerns, needs, and expectations are the focus. What's working/what's not. Where changes and progress are needed. And your confidence to control the narrative in IEP meetings. We'll delve into it all & more.

T

Bi-weekly, 60-minute consultations will be regularly scheduled and e-mail check-ins will be ongoing to ensure sustained and timely communication occurs for updates and to address issues that may emerge quickly.

We'll address evaluation data, help you prepare for IEP meetings with an agenda, ensure documentation with school is consistent and actionable, and make certain your concerns in meetings are heard and addressed.

WHAT

Novice or experienced parent, one parent or both...this program is about increasing your parent advocacy skills in school to help your child realize success whether academically, socially, behaviorally or across domains.

Your questions will be answered, you'll receive information and steps to guide your advocacy journey, urgent issues will be prioritized, and your child's individual needs, no matter their age or grade, will be our priority and focus.

BENEFITS

YOUR GOALS

As your child ages, their needs often change and this means reviewing or updating evaluations, revising IEPs, evaluating placement, and ensuring your immediate and long-term goals for your child are appropriately addressed.

Special education does not solely address academic issues, but social, behavioral, functional, and other needs as well which means ensuring they receive the attention, services, and supports required is a priority.

Understanding your child's diagnosis/diagnoses and their needs, strengths, and triggers is key to your school advocacy efforts. Educating your school about these areas and more is key to meeting their individual needs.

When issues emerge, we'll address them promptly with rapid response for critical, time-sensitive, and immediate situations requiring your involvement to communicate with your district and develop appropriate solutions.

Coaching. Advocacy. Parent Support.

Introductory Consultation

An introductory, 60-minute consultation will provide an opportunity for you to share a bit about your child, what's happening in school, and discuss your needs and expectations for coaching and advocacy support via The Chaos To Clarity, Deep Dive, or Spot Coaching programs.

The Deep Dive

This program begins with a 90-minute consultation and revolves around a comprehensive review of your child's key educational documents - your school district evaluation report, recent independent evaluation reports, your child's current IEP, progress reports, and any other relevant documentation.

A follow-up document review consultation is then scheduled to discuss findings and provide recommendations along with a written discussion recap. Additionally, a pre-IEP meeting consultation will be scheduled to help you prepare, and a post-IEP meeting consultation will also be scheduled.
